DWPFC v SAS Joinery Dwp went into this match knowing a win was a must if they were to continue their impressive start to their campaign. Manager Rob Rollin had decided to keep faith with the starting 5 that had lost to Queens Hotel the previous week. Things started bad when Macca gave Rollin an easy back pass, only to see the ball squirm through Rollins's bow legs and into the net. Roughly 30 seconds later Steve Wiggins was caught 2 on 1 and despite a good sliding block, the ball fell for SAS striker Ian Stevenson to power the ball past Rollin to make it 2-0. Wiggins and Rollin were seething at this stage and after a few choice words DWP finally got their act together, and spearheaded by an inform Lee Spencley, they pushed forward with Daz Pollard coming close. 10 minutes remained of the first half, when Lee Spencley volleyed a macca through ball into the top corner of the net. It took him an extra 2 minutes to level the score, with a fantastic solo run and pacey finish. Half time came and the game was square, but in fairness there was only one team in it. It was only a matter of time for DWP to take a deserved lead, and 5 minutes into the 2nd half Daz Pollard showed unbelievable pace and composure to make it 3-2 on the night. 10 minutes to go and Adam Roebuck launched a solo attack coming close with a 40 yard effort, but it wasn't until the 35th minute when Lee Spencley completed his hat trick, adding further justification to an international call up. Final Score DWPFC 4 - SAS Joinery 2 Player Rating - Rollin 5, Wiggins 7, Roebuck 7, G 7, Pollard 7, Macca 7, Spencley 9(mom). |
